Olympus Foods Romania: A tasteful presence with high local impact
Olympus Foods Romania produces a wide range of innovative dairy and food products at Fabrica de Lapte Brașov, one of Europe’s most advanced dairy factories, following the high-quality standards of Hellenic Dairies.
Founded in Greece over 75 years ago, Hellenic Dairies is a family-owned business now led by its third generation.
Today, the Group operates eight food factories across Greece, Romania, Cyprus and Bulgaria, bringing Olympus dairy and plant-based products, teas and natural juices to 55 international markets.
25+ years of steady growth in Romania
Since 1999, Olympus Foods Romania has significantly expanded its local operations through continuous investments, exceeding EUR 217 million to date.
Key milestones include the EUR 55 million Dairy Factory in Hălchiu, Brașov, built from the ground up in 2011; a EUR 40+ million logistics hub with a 32,000-pallet-capacity cold storage high-bay warehouse, inaugurated in 2024; and a new 7,100 sqm production and storage facility, representing a EUR 7.5 million investment in 2026.
Sustainability is also a key priority, with Olympus Foods Romania pioneering the use of r-PET packaging and peelable paper labels, actively donating food, and reducing its environmental footprint through photovoltaic systems, biogas production and digital technologies that optimize operational efficiency.
The success of the Olympus brand in Romania is reflected in the company’s performance: in 2025, local turnover exceeded RON 1 billion, placing Olympus among the top 5 dairy producers in Romania.
Local 100%
One of the most ambitious targets achieved in Romania is covering local demand for Olympus dairy by locally processing milk collected exclusively from local farms.
This challenging two-decade project was accomplished by establishing strong connections with over 1,200 local farmers, operating 3 raw milk collection centers in Banat, Dobrogea, Oltenia, and by setting up a dedicated transport network.
Building this framework provides a reliable supply chain that accounted for 119,000 tons of milk collected in 2025, while also supporting small farms and rural communities.

Adding value to global trends
The broad Olympus portfolio available in Romania is complemented by PDO products such as Feta and Halloumi, produced at Hellenic Dairies facilities in Greece and Cyprus.
In addition, the product range is constantly adjusted to encompass global trends. It is worth noting that Olympus does not limit itself to following new trends but contributes through innovations such as the Olympus PrOtein lactose-free milk whose protein content is obtained without addition.
The brand also focuses on bringing novelties previously unavailable on the market, some of which are the protein-rich drinking yogurt and kefir or the Olympus DRINK EAT meal replacement concept.
