AWARDED PROFESSOR OF MARKETING AT LONDON BUSINESS SCHOOL
At London Business School, Simona teaches the Brand Management elective, co-teaches PhD seminars in Consumer Behavior and Judgment and Decision Making, and co-directs and co-teaches the Strategic Branding executive education course. In 2017 she received the MBA Best Teacher Award and the Excellence in Teaching Award. She served as department chair from 2019 to 2023.
Prior to joining London Business School, she was an assistant professor at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University. She received a BA from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, and an MBA and PhD in Marketing from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
HER RESEARCH HAS RECEIVED 25 AWARDS & HONORS
Simona’s research is on consumer behavior and decision making, with a focus on the psychological processes underlying perceived personal control and how different ways of providing and exercising control influence well-being.
Her work has been published in leading psychology and marketing journal and received numerous awards among which:
Simona is currently associate editor at Journal of Consumer Research and Journal of Marketing and served the same role at Journal of Consumer Psychology and International Journal of Research in Marketing. She was the Association for Consumer Research International Perspectives Director from 2016 to 2018.
In her talks, Simona Botti shares surprising insights that profoundly change how marketing professionals view consumer’s freedom of choice and its influence on consumer buying decision.
Having too much choice should increase happiness, but the problem is that there could be too much choice that people become paralyzed. And even when they do choose, they are unhappy.
